Air Fryer Chicken Wings

Ready in less than 30 minutes, these wings are flavourful and juicy. Perfect as an addition to lunch or dinner or as a game day snack. Recipe is below.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken wings – about 1 lb
  • Olive oil – 2 tbsps
  • Sossy’s special spice mix – I use a mix of suya spice (a West African spice blend), garlic powder, salt, smoked paprika, ginger powder and black pepper. I use about 4 tbsp of this mix to ensure the wings are generously coated
  • Lemon – half a lemon

Cooking Instructions:

  • Wash chicken thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels, then transfer to a bowl
  • Drizzle with olive oil
  • Add spice blend
  • Squeeze the juice of the lemon into the bowl
  • Mix thoroughly until the wings are well coated
  • Cover with and set in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight
  • Once marinated, preheat air fryer at 200 C
  • Line air fryer basket with parchment paper (optional)
  • Transfer chicken wings into air fryer basket and set timer to 20 minutes. Be sure not to crowd the wings in the basket to ensure even baking.
  • At the 10 minute mark, remove basket and flip the wings to ensure the other side is well cooked as well
  • After 20 minutes, the wings should be ready. Test with a thermometer to ensure it is well cooked. Internal temperature should be at least 165 degrees
  • If you want the wings browned a little more, you can add 2 minutes to the air fryer time
  • Remove wings once ready and serve
  • Optional – I served these wings with a side of celery sticks, carrot sticks and a dip made with a mix of sour cream and ketchup.
  • Enjoy!
